Raw milk discontinued until further notice

As you might know, we send a raw milk sample to the lab for testing every week to ensure our milk is free from pathogens (Bacteria that can cause illness).

The lab report from last week (which we received back this afternoon, 1st Oct) has found a low virulent strain of “shiga toxin producing E. Coli”. At this point the lab hasn’t been able to identify the strain. They’ve confirmed it’s not a highly pathogenic strain such as E. Coli O157.
The full results will take another 2 weeks to come back.

We recommend that people in a high risk group, such as children, elderly or anyone else with a lowered immune system, not to consume any raw milk or raw cream you may have at home.  Although boiling the raw milk should remove the risk.

To be on the safe side, we have decided to pasteurise the milk until further notice, so we can still supply you with Organic unhomogenised milk.

If you have a repeat order with us, we will assume you’re happy to receive our milk in pasteurised form. If not, please let us know as soon as possible. Unfortunately, we don’t have the facilities to pasteurise our cream at present, so cream will be discontinued until further notice.

If you have any questions, please contact us via email. If you want to speak to us over the phone, please let us know by email and we’ll give you a call.

We like to reiterate that we’re only pasteurising the milk as a precaution.
We’ll be in touch once we know more.

Thanks for your understanding, Tom, Iris, Abi and the team at Cliftons Farm.
