On the Farm
In this climate it’s quite common to have grain that has too much moisture in it at time of harvest. If that’s the case, it will rot. This year our grain had a moisture content of 25%, which is very high.
To avoid the grain from going bad, we hire a grain drier. It’s an enormous dryer! It’s meant to arrive today, so hopefully all will go well and we’ll have some lovely dry grain by the end of today.
Drying the grain
Some more cows have calved too. This time we had some heifer calves (females) which is fantastic news. We now have 5 beautiful Jersey heifers to rear.
