On the Farm
Last week we advertised some fruit. When we checked the fruit bushes on the day of the post they weren’t quite ripe, so I thought it was perfect timing to advertise them. Then within 2-3 days after advertising, the fruit ripened and the birds ate them! So we’re sorry if some of you got disappointed. The birds are not so sorry 😉
On the plus side, we have got more vegetables available this week as you can see above!
Today (Friday) we got a new batch of hens delivered. Most of them are now 11 weeks old, but a few are 17 weeks old. The older ones will start laying fairly soon. This means we should then have small eggs available again.
Earlier in the week Thomas and Will made hay out of our hay field. Due to the drought it’s been an interesting result. On average we get about 20 bales of hay off our hay field. This time we got…(drum roll)…7!
Just for comparison, last year was a fantastic year for hay making, when we managed to make over 30 bales. This shows how much the weather impacts our business.
At least our calves have some yummy hay to munch on for now!
