The week commencing Monday 4th September we have the following available.
- Small tomatoes (cherry and baby plum)
- Large tomatoes
- Raspberries (weather depending*)
- Beans (Mix of runner and french)
For quantities and prices please see our Seasonal page for more information.
* It will have to be dry for us to pick raspberries because they do not keep if they are wet. If you like to order raspberries for delivery please ensure your order will be over £8 without the raspberries or notify us of an alternative product if raspberries aren’t available.
On the Farm
This week we got a lot of straw in which will be used for bedding up pens and also to feed the cows.
We’ve had 1 other cow calve called “Bella”. She had a Jersey heifer calf so that’s fantastic news.
We have a bumper crop of tomatoes at the moment. A top tip is if you buy the large ones now and after taking the green tops off, put them in the freezer. When you next want to use some tomatoes for cooking, instead of opening a tin just get some of the frozen tomatoes out of the freezer, run them under hot water for a second or two and the skin will just slide off. These can then be in a pan to simmer down to reduce the amount of liquid and hey presto you have the same as a tin of tomatoes, only these are organic and grown in soil unlike the ones out of a tin. Full of flavour and absolutely delicious!
